Foundation Internship Overview

Children’s of Alabama Foundation Cause Marketing/Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals team is seeking a current college student, graduate student, or recent college graduate who is interested in fundraising and development for pediatric healthcare and providing support for national CMNH partner fundraising campaigns and team initiatives.  Within the foundation, the Cause Marketing/CMNH team leverages CMNH’s national partnerships on a local level by developing relationships, creating cause connections, and building brand awareness to ultimately raise support for the hospital.  The Cause Marketing/Corporate Partnership internship is a paid, part-time temporary position. The ideal candidate would be a self-directed, highly professional individual who will coordinate campaign stewardship for assigned territory, assist the team with campaign execution, and support campaign leads. This internship is eligible for college credit. Students must be local to Birmingham from May 2023 to August 2023 (exact dates of internship to be discussed in the interview process – working with our calendar and the candidate’s calendar). Hours are flexible and not expected to exceed 25 (update this from 20) hours/per week.

Job Description 

Job duties include coordinating aspects of corporate partner campaigns including but not limited to: Walmart/Sam’s Club, Publix, Costco, and various other retail/corporate partners.  Other responsibilities include:

  • Packing and delivering campaign materials to commercial or residential locations
  • Making store visits in order to check on, motivate, and steward store leadership and employees
  • Communicating with partner location liaisons in person, and via text, email, and phone
  • Assisting with hospital and/or partner events
  • Writing and creating blog posts in conjunction with partner campaigns
  • Assisting Children’s Community Development Coordinators with basic writing, graphic design, and social media tasks

Desired Qualifications

  • Willing and able to make in-person visits to CMNH partner locations
  • Must be
  • An excellent representative of the Children’s of Alabama organization and brand
  • Comfortable with basic graphic design (i.e. Canva) and social media strategy
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills


  • Must be local to Birmingham from May 2023, to July 2023
  • A rising 3rd or 4th-year college student, current graduate student, or recent graduate working in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related degree
  • Willing to sign a contractual agreement with Children’s of Alabama
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, car insurance, and daily access to a vehicle
