Children's of Alabama Employee Benefits

Working with children is perhaps the greatest benefit of working at Children’s of Alabama. After all, it was the children who brought many of us here in the first place. They are the center of our life and they’re also central to the values that bind us together—emotionally, intellectually, spiritually.

As Alabama’s foremost not-for-profit pediatric health care provider, we can offer you all the challenges and opportunities for development you desire—as well as competitive pay, comprehensive benefits and a special sense of community that values every individual and rewards dedication and excellence. That’s why we provide both traditional workplace benefits and new, innovative benefits that are based on the values that have been vital to the spirit of our hospital for over 100 years.

Trust. Compassion. Teamwork. Commitment. Innovation. The five values that are The Children’s Way. The five values that are intangible benefits that make this a workplace like no other!

Regular employees scheduled to work 20+ hours per week are eligible for the following benefits.

Children’s offers three health plans: Viva Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Blue Cross Blue Shield Consumer Driven with a Health Savings Account. None of our health plans requires a Primary Care referral to see a specialist physician. We pay a significant portion of the monthly premiums.

Children’s offers a Blue Cross Blue Shield Basic Dental plan and a Blue Cross Blue Shield Buy-Up Option.

Children's offers a VSP Vision Plan or EyeMed Vision Plan.

Children’s offers a Health Care Spending Account and a Dependent Care Spending Account. Employees may contribute pre-tax dollars to these accounts to cover qualified expenses that are usually paid out-of-pocket with after-tax dollars. Because employees do not pay Federal, State Income, or Social Security taxes on the money contributed to these accounts, their bring home pay is usually higher.
