  • Job Summary
    • Provides direct and indirect patient care services, conducts in-service trainings, serves as consultant to medical staff, ancillary staff, and the community Monday through Friday with the potential for on-call holidays and weekends.
  • Education
    • Master’s or Doctoral Degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience
    • 1 year pediatric experience preferred.
  • Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence (or equivalent) in Speech Language Pathology and/or Audiology from the American Speech Language-Hearing Association
    • Alabama license in Audiology or Speech Language Pathology.

The Charity League Hearing and Speech Center at Children’s of Alabama provides diagnostic and rehabilitative speech-language and audiology services to the pediatric population in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Our goal is to maximize your child’s communicative potential so that the individual may better adapt to home, school, and social environments.
The audiology division of The Charity League Speech and Hearing Clinic at Children’s of Alabama has the goal of providing the best possible audiological care and management for patients and their families. Our nationally certified and state licensed audiology professionals are given opportunities for continuing education in order to keep current in new technology, knowledge, and techniques in the rapidly changing field of audiology. We serve children who are deaf and hard of hearing, while emphasizing the development of auditory skills and spoken language in a variety of communication formats. 
Our audiologists work closely with other professionals, including Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Neurology, Speech Pathology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Hematology/Oncology, Pulmonology, Psychiatry, and others. We also regularly follow high-risk populations and provide newborn hearing screenings to infants in the NICU, SCU and CVICU.
The speech-language pathology division of The Charity League Speech and Hearing Center is dedicated to helping each child reach his or her communication potential. Our speech-language pathologists have extensive knowledge in many areas related to a child’s speech, language, cognition, and feeding/swallowing abilities. These professionals not only evaluate but also treat patients in regularly scheduled therapy settings.
Our inpatient and outpatient speech-language pathologists (SLP) work closely with other professionals at Children’s of Alabama including: Aerodigestive Program, Cleft and Craniofacial clinics, Concussion Clinic, ENT,  Feeding Clinic, and Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine. Inpatient SLP’s serve patients on all units at Children’s including Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Special Care Unit, Rehabilitation Unit, and step down units.
