ECMO Primer

• Job Summary
  • The ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) Primer is a professional registered nurse/ certified or registered respiratory therapist who has an expert skill set to assemble and prime the ECMO Circuit for patients requiring extracorporeal support for long term pulmonary or cardiac support.
• Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or respiratory therapy. Appropriate diploma, associate/ ADN, bachelor/ BSN, or masters/ MSN degree in field.
• Experience
  • Minimum one year ECMO Specialist experience
  • Satisfactory completion of ECMO Primer Preceptorship
• Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
  • Current RN or CRT/ RRT license in the State of Alabama.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current COA ECMO Specialist Certification
