Job Summary
-
This position will serve as a Senior Level Horizon View VDI Operations Engineer within the Information Technology Department. Responsibilities include supporting the operations and maintenance of the entire VDI environment, to include hosting infrastructure, troubleshooting complex issues requiring escalated vendor and cross-functional IT support teams, and serve as a technical subject matter expert on Horizon VDI v7.0+, along with supporting build engineering for innovation deployments.

Education

Associates Degree in computer science, Business, or other analytical disciplines or equivalent work experience.

Experience
-
8+ years of directly relevant and hands-on Windows systems administration experience
-
Must have a minimum of 4 years of related experience administrating a VMWare Horizon Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), v7.0 and above

Experience with working closely with the VMWare Horizon VDI stack, with in-depth understanding of the components that comprise a VDI environment to include Connection and View Composer Servers, App Volumes and application packaging, AppSense user customization, etc.

Experience with, and can, perform routine evaluation of VDI systems for improvement opportunities and make recommendation for enhancement

Experience or familiarity with load balancing technologies to distribute inbound user traffic evenly between two (or more) different VDI sites.

In-depth knowledge of Windows Desktop and Server OS installations, security hardening and maintenance

Ability to deploy and integrate new applications that may be requested.

Experience with performance tuning & troubleshooting, identifying, and resolving contention in CPU, memory, networking, disk I/O, etc.

Understanding of the user logon process in VDI and Windows with experience in configuration and management of user profiles in shared and non-persistent environments.

Maintain the security compliance and configuration management of the VDI system

Experience with Active Directory, DFS, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy Management.

Experience with scripting / automation (PowerShell, Python, etc.) in support of virtual desktop / server environments.

Prior experience creating documentation for virtualization environments

Epic EHR deployment experience in a VDI environment a Plus
