Job Summary

Provides creative services (writing, editing, concept, design and/or layout, photography, new media development and coordination) and develops communication strategies, messages and designs in support of the Alabama Children’s Hospital Foundation and Children’s of Alabama assigned service lines or departmental accounts. Coordinates these communication activities in support of Children’s of Alabama’s strategic marketing and business initiatives.

Responsibilities
Coordinates, develops and designs the communication collateral materials and supporting elements for the Alabama Children's Hospital Foundation. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that production schedules for all collateral needs from the Foundation are tracked and reviewed on a weekly basis. Produces the quarterly OurChildren newsletters (both print and e-based). This includes, but is not limited to: storyboard development, coordination of facts and quotes for each story with CCM representatives, management of donor mailing lists as needed and keeping production schedule on track. Stories and subject matter will encompass all aspects of the Foundation strategies. Supports the major gifts development team in the implementation and executive of any annual fund or other major gifts needs which may arise. Coordinate and gather analytical data within the Foundation in partnership with the donor operations team. Data needed may include, but not be limited to, response rates to mailings, attrition and renewal rates of CMN donors and Child of Children's response rates. Oversight and entry responsibility for the Foundation website. Responsible for content, accuracy, current events and ensuring a balanced presentation between major gifts, events and programming and other foundation priorities. Provides graphic design, photography, writing, editing and print coordination of promotional and patient care materials for any other assigned Children's accounts (service lines) or special projects in order to facilitate communications and positive relationships between Children's/UAB physicians, Children's of Alabama Departments and other internal and external customer groups and various Children's of Alabama related publics. Photos and Videos Provide support for Children's photography and video needs as assigned or required. Assist with video/photo scripting and other duties as needed. Other/Miscellaneous Serve as a departmental liaison to internal teams and committees. Assist as needed at Children's events, employee meetings and related activities. Perform other duties as assigned or required. Serve as a team player and represent Children's of Alabama in a positive and professional manner exemplifying the corporate values of trust, compassion, commitment, teamwork and innovation..

Education

Bachelors degree in journalism, graphic arts/design, communications, public relations, marketing or related field required.

Experience

At least three years experience within a healthcare environment or related industry. High level of communication and design skills and a strong business background necessary; experience in customer service, sales, working with physicians, research and market analysis highly desirable. Self-starting ability, leadership and problem solving skills, writing, organizational, communication, presentation, design and people skills required. General office equipment. Personal computer and software related to communications production. Able to use Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Suite, In Design, (other current design software programs) and Internet. Digital camera. Online portfolio of work preferred, or PDF samples.
