Job Summary:
The Children’s Mental/Behavioral Health RN is a professional nurse who performs intake assessment, offers crisis intervention, and provides input into the care of psychiatric patients in the Emergency Department and in the inpatient setting. The nurse screens and assesses patients and assists in the development of an individualized plan of care. The Mental/Behavioral Health nurse coordinates, implements and evaluates nursing care using a patient/family centered approach. Collaborates with Emergency Department team, Emergency Service Providers, PIRC Team, hospital departments and outside agencies - adapting care plans to address psychiatric needs. As needed, the Mental/Behavioral Health nurse will serve on the inpatient unit using a patient/family centered model to provide nursing care to children and adolescents on an acute, inpatient behavioral health unit.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Experience:
3 years of experience in Mental/Behavioral Health nursing is preferred.
Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries:
Current RN license in the State of Alabama, Current BLS certification, CPI certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
